A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO MEGAN!!!!!
Megan graduated from Grantsville High School on May 29th as one of the two Valedictorians. Our Megan is such a smart girl! As Valedictorian, she got to give a speech at graduation, hers was great. (I have it on video, as soon as I figure out how to download it I'll post it.) The graduation itself was good, it wasn't too long so we didn't all get bored. ;) Megan had lots of family there to support her. Before the graduation we took Megan out to eat, she picked the Spaghetti Factory. We had lots of fun there teasing each other.
Megan is going to go to UVU (Utah Valley University) in the fall, where she has received a full-ride scholarship. She also received a scholarship for $3,500 from my work. There were 96 applicants for this scholarship and 6 recipients.
If it sounds like I'm bragging on her it's because I am. We are soo very proud of Megan and all that she has accomplished. She is a very self-motivated, dedicated girl. We never had to remind Megan to do her homework, or bribe her to get good grades. It was just something that she did for herself. Megan graduated having only received one B in her entire High School career (and we don't want to talk about the stupid teacher who gave her a B).
GREAT JOB MEGZ!

Missionary Time
For those of you who don't know Jake received his mission call in February of this year. He is going to the Brazil Curitiba Mission. He reported to the MTC in Sao Paulo on June 10th. Yes I know that was three days ago. So let's back up. On May 3rd Jake went through the Bountiful Temple. Wow, that has to have been one of the best days of my life this far. It was such a wonderfully uplifting experience to be able to go through with Jake for his first time. I will always remember how I felt that day and the spirit that was there.
Then the next week, Sunday May 11th, Jake spoke in our ward as kind of his farewell. He spoke on mothers. His mom came up to our ward to hear him speak and he gave a wonderful tribute to her, and to me as well. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this kid. I couldn't ask for a more wonderful step-son, and older brother for the little boys. So after Sacrament meeting we came back to our house and had some food, and visited with the family.
Jake next spoke for his "real" farewell as he would say, on June 8th in Stansbury at his mom's ward. Guy and I and our kids went down for the entire block, Jake wanted to go to Priesthood with Guy one last time. A funny thing happened in Relief Society, I went with Megan, Ashley and Melissa. When they asked for visitors, Melissa turned to Megan and said "You have to introduce Melita, I'm not sure what to say". Melissa is Guy's ex-wife, her and I get along just fine. Anyway Megan introduced me as her step-mom and the rest of the meeting was fine. I don't know why I just found it funny. But it guess it would've been weird to say "This is Melita, my ex-husbands new wife". Anyway, during Sacrament meeting Jake gave a wonderful talk on faith, he didn't seem very nervous. He had prepared so well, he didn't even have to hardly read his talk at all. There were a lot of people there to support him. Ok if you know Jake a lot of them were girls. :) It was really nice. After church we went to Melissa's house and had her homemade ravioli, it was delicious. It was nice to visit with all the family that came out and Jake's friends from high school that we hadn't seen in a while.
That brings us to Tuesday and the airport. Our poor little Jake had never flown before in his life, so he was quite nervous to fly. We got him to the airport took some pictures, visited for a while and then sent him on his way through security. We watched him walk all the way through security, and then watched as he went up the escalator and out of sight. We were all teary eyed and we watched him go. Jake has grown up so much, he has turned into a wonderful young man and I'm sure will be a great missionary for the Church in Brazil. I will keep you updated on his progress as I get updates from him.
Happy Belated Birthday to my Caden J.
Friday May 2nd was Caden's 5th birthday. I can't believe that my baby is 5. :( He is growing up so fast. We celebrated his birthday on Sunday May 4th. Anyway, we had Grandparents, Great-Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Brothers, Sisters and Friends over to share in the cake and homemade ice cream with us. Caden picked out a Cars cake. He loves Lightening McQueen. We also bought about a dozen cupcakes with little plastic rings on top. The kids all got to run around and play outside. We opened up the presents and he got lots of toys to play outside with. Here are some of his favorite things right now.
The movie Transformers & toys
Matchbox cars
Playing outside all day
Playing Nintendo (mostly Mario Kart)
Chasing Jake around the house
Chocolate pudding
The movie Short Circuit
His nerf dart gun
Talking to family on the phone
King Burger
Chocolate milk
We also went to Kindergarten round-up in April. He was pretty excited and came home and told me everything that he had learned. I came home with a huge stack of papers to go over. We just went to Caden's year check up and the little tyke weighs in at a whopping 38 pounds and is 43.5 inches tall. He has recently become much more inquisitive. He asks what everything means.
Caden "Mom was does 'I love you too' mean?" Me "It means that you love someone." Caden "oh ok"
Caden "Mom what does 'agree' mean?" Me "Well Caden agree means that you feel the same way. Like if you said I'm tired and I said I agree that would mean that I felt tired too." Caden "Oh ok so agree means that you are tired?" Me "Well not quite but close." (Which then lead into a discussion on what that meant.)
He really makes me laugh, and then drives me crazy at the same time. I do have pictures, I"ll have to post them later as they are on Guy's camera and I don't know where it is right now.
So I'm a Slacker
It has been brought to my attention, that since I sent this wonderful blog up I have not been updating it. Our lives have been quite busy since I last was here. I'm going to put my stories separate blogs to keep them straight. Missions, Graduates, Temples, Babies (not mine), almost accidents and Birthdays. But first a funny story or two to get you going.
The other day Guy and the boys and I were watching TV, (for the life of me I can't remember what we were watching but that's not the point) when something somewhat exciting happened and Caden said our favorite phrase "What The?" Zach followed about 5 seconds later with "Heck?" I looked at Guy and he looked at me and we both just started laughing. Ok well we thought it was funny.
So then today I get home from work and I need to go potty (can you tell I have kids?), so Zach of course said he needed to go too. I said ok let's go upstairs and go. (We are tyring to get him to want to be a "big"boy.) So up we go, I get all done and I'm doing my thing, Zach is sitting on his little potty saying "It's not coming Mom. Oh here it comes. Nope it's not coming Mom." Then he looks up at me and says "Mom, you don't have a pee'er." (That what daddy started calling "it" when Caden was being potty trained.) I said no I don't, and he follows it with "Well I have one, and so does Caden and so does daddy, and I can poop too and so can Caden." I was at quite a loss for words by this time. Mostly because I was trying to contain my laughter. Little boys are just too funny. Sorry if that was a little TMI for some of you but I found it greatly amusing. Alright well on with the rest of the stories. :)
Oh yes and I almost forgot. Ashley's arm is getting much more better. It pretty much doesn't hurt her anymore, unless you punch her. Her lung is all healed up, along with her rib. However about a week and a half after the accident we found out that she had fractured her pelvis in three places. The doctor said that it had already started to heal, and it wasn't displaced so there wasn't really a lot that they could do for her.
